Cooking Directions:

Wash thoroughly the apples. Do not remove the skin.

Using a knife or an apple corer remove the cores by carving a hole about 3/4 inch wide. Remove all the seeds but do not cut completely through the apple.

For each apple: fill the hole with half a teaspoon of sugar and a pitted dried plum. Add another half teaspoon of sugar and finally cover with raisins to fill up completely the apple.

Place the stuffed apples in a baking pan. Pour some water on the bottom of the pan.

Sprinkle abundant cinnamon powder over the apples.

Bake uncovered for 35 to 45 minutes or until the apples are soft. When about half of the cooking time has passed, moist the apples with the juices from the bottom of the pan.

When the apples are fully baked, remove from the oven and serve warm.

Tips:

Score lightly the skin to prevent the apples from splitting apart.

Try adding to the filling nuts and other dried fruits for yummy variations of this simple recipe.

For additional flavor add some some lemon juice or liquor to the water on the bottom of the pan.

You can add a teaspoon of cream or a small piece of butter on top of each apple.

Instead of baking the apples in the oven you can cook them in the microwave on high for about 7 to 10 minutes depending on the size of the apples. Let them set for 5 minutes before serving.
